Lomi Lomi Nui is the name of an ancient ritual, a temple dance massage which was practised by the Kahuna, the wise men of old Hawaii. People who were in transitional phases or who were facing important tasks in their life would often be accompanied and supported by this loving massage for many days.Our Lomi Lomi Nui Massage is an approximately two-hour ritual that is carried by the special Aloha spirit, the strength of the elements and Hawaiian life principles. “Aloha” is more than just a warm-hearted greeting. Love, thanks and sympathy and the happy sharing of life energy and breath in the present moment are its deeper meaning.

Lomi Lomi Nui is a massage full of respect and loving touch straight from the heart. It gives a great sense of security and deeply relieves tension – strong, gentle and varied like the waves of the sea. It contemplates and accepts things that want to show themselves at any moment and works in harmony with the divine power which the Hawaiians call “Mana”.

Feelings, perceptions, pictures, visions – everything is possible in the shared space between the masseur and recipient, which is allowed to gently expand. The old can go as room is created for the new and the heart is invited to open up.

This is a journey into oneself accompanied by Hawaiian sounds and song and lots of fragrant coconut oil which anoints the body. The massage is performed using the hands and forearms with both slow flowing and fast strokes on top of the body and underneath.

The massage starts on the back. In Hawaiian philosophy the back symbolises a person’s future, which should be free of burdens. Bit by bit all parts of the body are massaged, loosened and gently stretched and repeatedly connected through long, flowing strokes even during periods of rest. Gentle letting go and inner peace are thereby created as well as the feeling of complete acceptance and support.

Lomi Lomi Nui is more than just a relaxing, cleansing and vitalising experience awakening all the senses. It touches a person’s mental, physical, emotional and spiritual areas and thereby enables healing and change on all levels of their being.

The old Hawaiian traditions have developed a variety of Lomi Lomi Nui techniques. They all have in common the respect for and connection with creation, the deep relationship with all living things, the loving acceptance of the person massaged and the joy of this work.
